why didnt u like deadpool?

im only answering this ONCE but here goes:

1. fridged the girlfriend and then made her just there for his character development. to speak on the fridging, when asked about it, the male screenwriters had never heard the term and didnt consider it problematic at all. it was so awful and right at the beginning i couldnt even concentrate on the rest of the movie. she should have become an interesting side character in her own right and then became the “wade’s sob story show, with added bonus of cable’s similar sob story, because women are there for us to feel manpain”

2. turned Wade from cheeky and referential into a non-stop joke parade of “haha see im not problematic” when he was being problematic. the first movie was perfectly fine save for a few small things, but this had questionable jokes every 10 seconds.

4. everybody told me there’d be lesbians and then they were there to literally hold hands and do nothing. they barely spoke a word.

5. speaking of women barely speaking, Domino was the only good part of the entire movie, and they barely fucking let her speak or do anything that wasnt just “being badass”. also why was she wearing heels?!

6. Wade being pansexual was again treated like a joke. besides queer culture shit like musicals and interview with a vampire and jokes about him wanting to fuck Colossus, a straight audience would not be able to tell if he was just a jokey straight dude or actually pan. his actual canonical sexuality was laughed AT. it was super gross.

7. they touted many and diverse characters and then killed off Shatterstar and Bedlam. they were hyped so much and then literally used for a cheap laugh. wade even goes back and saves peter, but not the heroes of color on the x-force? and speaking of peter, it’s so funny that lame peter has no powers but gets to be on the team, but the taxi driver has no powers and is the butt of the joke about how he DOESNT get to be on the team. the metaphor here about how white mediocrity gets you places was not lost on me here.

8. the boy, Russell, could have been a great representation about childhood abuse, esp. bc Deadpool in the comics has experienced sexual abuse himself, but instead it became 20 jokes about pedophilia, and an over-extended school shooter metaphor that was so badly timed my actual jaw dropped. not to mention how a young boy of color’s entire storyline was based on his future as an assumed criminal and treating justice as a star wars-esque light and dark, where just one “taste” of murder can turn someone into a murderer. it was gross.

9. one of the great things about the first one was how they treated DP’s girlfriend well even though she was a sex worker, which never happens in movies. in this one they made stripper jokes.

in all, the first deadpool was a dark horse favorite of mine and this was super fucking gross. i left so disappointed and let down. this was #notmydeadpool.
